Polish Global Village Happy Hours are casual monthly get-togethers of Poles and friends, happening in the Washington metropolitan area, mostly in Northern Virginia. You are invited! Invitations to these events are posted in the Polish Global Village Yahoo! Group; hence, the name of the event series. Be sure to subscribe to Polish Global Village -- if you are not already on that list -- to receive invitations.
Polish Global Village Happy Hours are open to all. At Polish Global Village Happy Hours, you will hear a lot of Polish being spoken (sometimes very fast, without interruptions and with many people talking at the same time, as our tradition dictates), but the organizers of Polish Global Village Happy Hours take pride in creating a welcoming atmosphere for all, even those whose Polish is rusty or non-existent. Likewise, we embrace significant others, friends and unexpected guests of all races, nations and religions.
Although some participants may occasionally promote their Poland-related events or projects, Polish Global Happy Hours have no agenda and there are no speeches during these events.
Polish Global Village Happy Hour is a roving event; it takes place at a different venue every month, but we sometimes return to favorite places after a few months. We usually gather for Polish Global Village Happy Hours at cafes, restaurants or pubs. Past venues included Starbucks, Panera Bread, Le Madelaine, Le Pain Quotidien, Caribbean Breeze, RiRa Irish Pub, Sushi Rock DC, AguaViva, Union Jack's, Guarapo, Eleventh Street Lounge, Sine' Irish Pub and other places in Northern Virginia and W Domku Cafe in Washington.
Polish Global Village Happy Hours are organized by the following volunteers:
- Agnieszka Miarka -- a founding member of the PGV HH team and the organizer of the largest number of PGV HH events so far, Aga supports conferences professionally and is about to earn a certificate in event organizing
- Ania Buczkowska -- a long-time event co-organizer, author of many PGV HH event announcements in the Polish Washington calendar
- Kamila Lipowska-Torres -- the newest member of the team, infusing our group with new enthusiasm and plenty of new ideas
