Community Groups
| Washington
is America's capital, where thousands of institutions, organizations and
firms represent an incredibly wide variety of causes. The word
"lobbying" was actually invented in Washington and lobbying is one of the
main industries of this city. Among the multitude of interests
represented here are the interests of Poland and Polish Americans...
The Polish lobby is, of course, very powerful, extremely well organized and
completely undivided. But Washington isn't all about politics. It's home to a growing community of Poles and friends of Polish culture. They contribute to Washington's cosmopolitan society by maintaining a Polish library and sponsoring many enjoyable cultural events, often in cooperation with the Polish embassy. Washington's Polish diaspora is relatively small, when compared to Chicago or New York City, but it is quite active. It also distinguishes itself by a high rate of participation by friends of Poland who aren't necessarily Polish. Browse through the list of Polish community groups, find a group you like and experience a touch of Polish culture once in a while! |
